Busyhead 101
A few minutes on The Busyhead Project, the mental health nonprofit founded by Noah Kahan, that aims to end the stigma around mental health and improve access to resources - why he started it, where the money goes, and who it reaches.
The Busyhead Project takes its name from Noah Kahan’s 2019 debut album, Busyhead.
The nonprofit launched in 2023.

“I’ve been given so many wonderful opportunities in my career and it really is all for nothing if I don’t try and give back to the community that has supported me. If I can help anyone get through their struggles, it will be the proudest achievement of my career.”
Named after his 2019 debut album, The Busyhead Project is a mental health initiative founded by Noah Kahan aimed at providing resources and information needed to end the stigma around mental health.
A documentary about Noah’s life, his career and his mental health. Here’s the trailer.

“There is no happy ending, or full circle moment, or one event in your life that fixes everything. It’s waking up every day and trying.”
On his mental health, in the Out of Body documentary
The Busyhead Project partners with local organizations in the cities where Noah plays.
That helps make sure fans know about, and can access, mental health resources in their own communities.

The highest rate of any adult age group - against 29.4% for ages 26-49 and 13.9% for 50 and over.
Across all U.S. adults, 23.1% - 59.3 million people - experienced any mental illness in 2022. Of them, 30.0 million, or 50.6%, received mental health treatment that year.
For 18-25 year olds it was lower still, at 49.1%.

The Busyhead Project grants money to community-based mental health organizations - local, regional and national - across the world.
The Busyhead Project raises money in several ways at once, and since 2023 through a fundraising program built with Propeller around Noah’s touring life. Their own channels run alongside it.

Four years, four turning points.
The question was simple: what if every show could raise real money for mental health? Propeller built the first in-venue program across 24 dates, then the first flyaway sweepstakes - Austin City Limits, then Cancun. The model was proven.
The in-venue program scaled to 46 dates, nearly triple year one. A trip to Fenway, signed vinyl drops, a Gibson guitar giveaway, a tour jacket auctioned for the cause - every touchpoint became a way to give.
Hyde Park in London took the program international. A Red Sox collaboration opened the door to a sports audience. And by the end of the year the question had changed: what if this didn’t have to be cyclical?
48,318 fans entered for the chance to meet Noah backstage at Fenway - and nearly 6,000 of them became monthly donors. One moment turned into recurring, year-round support. That is the club you are looking at now.
Add up every campaign since 2023, and more than $3 million has now been raised for The Busyhead Project through Propeller.
“We work with Backline to help provide mental health resources to our touring folks. We have a really serious backdrop of mental health on this tour, and that’s been really special.”

Noah and The Busyhead Project work with Backline to provide free therapy to his touring crew.

Members give monthly to The Busyhead Project, take actions for points, and unlock rewards from Noah’s world.
It is a monthly donor program that doesn’t depend on a tour date - support that shows up every month, wherever the year goes.
Steady monthly support is what lets the project plan past a single tour date.
Drops rotate through the year - here are a few.

The campaigns that raised more than $3 million through Propeller also sent real fans to meet Noah. Here are three of them.
“This was truly a once in a lifetime experience for me! My concerns of being starstruck quickly melted as (Noah) smoothly offered to take photos and sign my shirt!”
Kyle S. - winner of the VIP trip to meet Noah Kahan at Austin City Limits
“Every person we met had stories of how loving Noah’s music had changed their life. It was a dream come true to see Noah Kahan perform so close to where we were seated.”
Gabby R. - winner of the trip to see Noah Kahan at Fenway Park
Noah announced the most recent winner himself: Tom, from Vermont. More than 48,000 people entered that one, and together they raised over $1.1 million.
“We know that we are one piece of a large puzzle in combating the mental health crisis and we are proud to collaborate with organizations like The Busyhead Project to help make a real difference in our communities. Hope happens!”
Yellow Tulip Project, Maine - a supported organization

“You guys are really making a difference, and it means so much to me. It’s going to mean so much to the people that these resources help. So thank you to everybody that donated, everybody that came here tonight.”
